Rant, D'Alliance & Not The Wolf with Claire Younis
Wed May 28th ~ Irish Murphys ~ 8:30pm ~ Free
Coming up in May the Live & Local gets back to a three-act bill with some fine offerings from across the region. Celtic newcomers Rant will perform alongside Prue Farnsworths latest sensational group D'Alliance, and finally, a bit of chaos provided by Not The Wolf and Port Campbells finest Claire Younis. Not a show to be missed!!!
Rant was formed at the Lake School of Celtic Music, Song and Dance in Koroit, Victoria, at the beginning of 2008.
The band has a predominant Celtic flavor, with songs and sounds influenced by Rock, Classical and Jazz. They're a young group whose ages range from 17-23, made up of Michelle Doyle (harp), Jono Burton (guitar) Mischa Herman (whistles, accordion) and Carrie Young (vocals, piano, percussion).
Rant is the second band to be formed at the Lake School as part of the Paddy O'Neill Award - which underwrites tuition, recording and performance opportunities for the group. Their demo CD 'The Second Sitting' was recorded at Yelp studios in Warnambool.
Rant has recently performed at the Lake School of Celtic Music Song and Dance and the Port Fairy Folk Festival where they
received standing ovations from the crowd on several occasions. In the future they plan to record and launch their first album and continue to build their performance repertoire and experience at folk festivals around the country.
D'Alliance consist of a curious montage involving three musicians with very different backgrounds. Irishman Marty Kelly (guitar/vocals) has a background steeped in Irish traditional music, then with rock, then a renewed fascination with DAD GAD tuning adding to it his own exquisite sense of melody and harmonic inventiveness. Prue Farnsworth (flute/whistles/piano) studied classical music, but has always had a great interest in Irish music, particularly with it's emotional impact. Rob Doole (fiddle/vocals) gained his expertise from a long involvement in the Geelong session scene, and is much in demand for his unique solo playing and individual style. The result is a quirky mix of styles and expressive flair.
Not the Wolf (Paul Monk & Matiss Schubert) are joined by the delightful Claire Younis from Port Campbell, Victoria - a Fishmongers fan from way back – Winner of the 2007 Otway Idol!

Hey Adam, how about posting the time & cost too!
