The first Melbourne Guitar Makers Festival is scheduled for 16th to 17th May 2009. The Festival is a two day event comprising an exhibition of instruments made by some of the country's best makers. The Lake School of Celtic Music fired up again this year with asell out attendance and great weather. Highlights for the weekwere the formation and rehearsals for the 2009 Paddy O'Neillaward group Dram, and the tutors showband Ceolaras with bothof these groups destined for Port Fairy in March. Dramsuccessfully recorded an 8 track cd titled 'The Third Offering'by the end of the week's work. Read more »»

Sourcing good playable instruments for those who have lost them in the fires. 

Many of us have instruments in the house that we don’t use, maybe we have upgraded or found other interests or for whatever reason they are gathering dust. Put them to good use today! 

Many people who have lost their homes in the recent Victorian bushfires have also lost cherished musical instruments. Whether they were the kids’ favourite ukulele or an inherited Fender Stratocaster, they will for the most part be irreplaceable, and missed sorely.
